Eskimos live in igloos?
Thousands of years before Terence Conran, the Eskimos were used to a pure white interior. Or so the story goes. We’ve seen picture and images of the snowbound hunters bringing fish and blubber back to the family igloo. Or have we?
You might be surprised to know that the igloo – a small and rather temporary-looking structure for a family home – is, in fact, only what an Eskimo uses in an emergency. Trapped out on the ice in a blizzard? Build an igloo. Tea and the family? Go home to a hut like everyone else.
But the Eskimos have the right idea – a safe place to go for when disaster strikes. If you need systems coverage in an emergency, check out VMware high availability solutions.
Disaster? What disaster?
Thousands of data centres experience significant server interruptions every year, at the cost of lost business revenue and lost data - or worse. And while disasters and unplanned downtime get the big headlines, planned downtime for hardware maintenance and backups is the cause of the majority of service downtime.
A virtualisation solution using VMware Virtual Infrastructure running on IBM System x or Bladecenter gives you the ability to eliminate planned downtime, deliver high availability, and be better prepared for disaster recovery.
Virtualise your data centre and make it easier to build solutions for:
- Data protection - including non-disruptive back up and restore processes
- High availability - through reduced planned and unplanned downtime
- Disaster recovery - with hardware independent recovery
Even if you haven't virtualised your production servers, virtualised target servers for your disaster recovery give you greater simplicity, reliability and cost savings.
You don’t have to hunt far for a disaster recovery solution. For emergency cover, chill out at our Virtualisation seminars or contact us on 01285 862100 or marketing@apexcomp.co.uk |
